Installing Updated
Music Fonts
Sometimes we'll issue updated to Mozart's music fonts. Here is how you install them in Windows. This example focuses on the symbols fonts used by Mozart 12, 13, 14, and 15
First download the fonts
There are two in-house musical symbols fonts for Mozart 12,13, 14, and 15.
Font | File name | Font name |
---|---|---|
Mozart classic | mozart12.otf | Mozart 12 Regular |
Mozart Jazz | MozartJazz12.otf | Mozart Jazz 12 Regular |
They can be downloaded from the font symbols page
Store them somewhere convenient on your computer.
Installing the fonts...
Windows will not let you replace a font which is in use, and it can frequenty believe that fonts are in use.
So shut down all applications. Or, even better, perform the following operations immediately after rebooting
and before running any applications.
Go to the Windows 'Fonts' folder. You can do this either through the control panel ('settings' in later versions of Windows) and search for 'fonts', or by using the File Explorer to go to (what is usually) C:\Windows\Fonts. It is a special folder recognisable by a unique graphic - see right.
Opening the folder will show you the fonts which you have installed. In the following figure, we've highlighted the ones of interest here with a red border:

To install the updated fonts: delete these two (if present) and then copy the new ones you downloaded into this folder.
Important: do not delete any other fonts. Various programs may need them, and once they're gone, they're gone. (We can only supply replacements for Mozart's own fonts.)
