Major New Features in Mozart 5 MIDI files (.mid .rmi and .kar) can be imported. Import a MIDI file, and start your own arrangement from there! MIDI input from a connected MIDI keyboard (or other MIDI instrument) is now supported. This can be done note by note (or chord by chord) or by playing in in real time. Echoing of notes as they are entered (by whatever method) is now supported. Empty stave lines at the end of the music are now suppressed by default (but may be printed if desired). Right-justification to end of line is now automatic: switch this on and the music automatically adjusts itself so that the right hand bar line on each line aligns with the right hand side of the stave. Transposing instruments are now fully supported: view the score at "written pitch" so that all parts appear as the players see them, or at "concert pitch" with all parts showing at their sounded pitch so that you can see the harmonies explicitly. And you can switch between the two views with a single command. MOZART has a database of all the commonest transposing instruments (and a few more!). [And just in case we've missed your favourite - you can add it in.] Score templates have been introduced so that you can create a score with a given layout and instrumentation very quickly. Use one of the supplied templates or create your own. Separating instrumental parts from the score may now also be done using a template - eg to make the player's part larger than the score, add the part name automatically, and ensure a uniform format for the set of parts. Multiple levels of undo and redo have been introduced. Play-back now shows progress with a moving cursor on the music. Play back from the start of the music or from the current insertion point or from the start of a selected block. High resolution images may now be exported with a whole page of the music, to paste into your favourite image editor and/or into a text document. Enharmonic commands have been introduced (eg to turn D# into Eb and vice versa). Symbols supported now include various ornaments: acciaccatura, trill, mordent, turn, inverted mordent, and inverted turn, all with optional chromatic modifications, and subdividing a note with strokes through the stem, as well as cross and diamond note heads, the repeat-a-bar symbol which can be replaced, if desired, by the appropriate notes with a single command. In 4/4 and 2/2 time signatures the common time and cut common (alla breve) symbols are now available as aternatives. Multiplet styles include a choice of digit + round bracket, digit + square bracket or just the digit. Keyboard shortcuts are now configurable to users' preferences. General improvements include : - changes of clef, key, time, and tempo within the music are now handled more elegantly - there is greater flexibility in entering whole-bar-rests which can now be entered in selected blocks and appended more easily at the end of the music just like normal rests - a new play-back toolbar facilitates play-back from the insertion point.
